The Rough and Ready Fire Protection District was established in 1963, before that time there was the Rough and Ready Fire Brigade that was here since the 1850's. Back then they had wooden water barrels and buckets kept where the Rough and Ready Market is now. In 1961 they recieved a 1948 Dodge Fire truck from the California Department of Forestry, which did not run. In 1970 the current station (pictured below) was built and then later more bays and office and training rooms were added later.
This is our new station coming soon. We recently recieved a sizeable grant from F.E.M.A.
