The 2009 fire season is coming to a close, the community of Rough and Ready was very fortunate as our fire season was virtually non eventful despite fires state wide.

Your fire department was called to respond as part of several strike teams that was sent to both Northern and Southern California  to help fight those fires. The Rough and Ready Fire Dept. is on a recruitment drive; we added seven new personnel to the roster this year, but we are still short of our goal. If any of you have the time and desire to join our volunteers please call 530-432-1140 or stop by on any Wednesday night at 7:00pm and check us out.

Many of you are aware of our sign downtown of a fireman asking for donations to help built a new fire station. The department is working very hard to make it a reality in the very near future; we still need your financial help and support to make it happen.

The department is already training and preparing for this winter fire season. We ask that you all stay diligent with safe burning and holiday cooking so we can all have a happy and safe 2009.
